In March 1999. I applied for an open production position for a company called Zevex, now Moog Medical Devices Group. I didn’t really know anything about them, but as luck would have it, it turned out to be an exceptional organization. I was the first Bosnian employee to work here so I was made to feel welcome right away. And even though my co-workers were incredibly friendly, my English-Serbocroatian dictionary was my best friend for a long time.
During my first year with Moog Medical Devices Group, I had my Mechanical Engineering degree, which I earned overseas, validated for the United States, which combined with my 12 years of ME experience in Bosnia, enabled me to fulfill my true potential – potential that was quickly recognized and capitalized on by Moog. I was offered an opportunity to join the Applied Technology R&D team, which really excited me as I knew that from now on, there would always be exciting technical challenges ahead.
The challenges were plentiful, and my time in the department flew. But things move fast here, including my career. I’m now a mechanical engineer in the Ultrasonic Group. I’m currently involved in a great deal of design work as I prepare products for transfer to production and testing. I truly enjoy my job – the work, the people and importantly, the feeling that I’m valued.
