I was studying at university and my classmates introduced me to Moog and encouraged me to take the screening examination. I really didn't know much about the company until I visited the site for interview. I was so impressed I decided to join and stopped my studies, knowing that I could continue studying later, even when I was working. I stayed in East Aurora for six months for the servovalves Assembly and Test training and after I had learned the job, I continued studying. After several years, I was able to finish the course (BS in Electronics and Communications Engineering). I decided to do it that way because I thought Moog would offer me more than other companies could. And I was right!

There's always a bit of competition going on within the team – in terms of how many units we're producing on a regular basis, but there's also lots of cooperation and collaboration. And the competition is never serious because we all enjoy and celebrate the accomplishment of our colleagues when they break production records. I started in 1988 and when I did I felt really welcome. I saw immediately how management gives support and put real trust in everyone. There's a level of independence and freedom to explore, but there's a good guidance to help us develop our skills and knowledge. 

I enjoy doing production work and stretching my capabilities is very rewarding especially when I break records in productivity. I have been involved in lots of teams and committees, (sports, picnic food events, and other activities). It has really helped me develop my people and leadership skills. I enjoy helping newcomers to develop their skills – I've trained many technicians and carry out some training seminars in things like leadership, problem solving and Moog philosophy and culture.
