Moog Expands High-Performance Motor Solutions: Acquires California Linear Devices
8 December 2008Moog Inc. announced today it has acquired California Linear Devices Inc. (CLD). CLD is a privately held company located in Carlsbad, California, specializing in high performance linear servomotors for a wide range of motion control applications. The product line will be reported as part of the Components Group segment.
CLD provides motion solutions to industrial applications like factory automation, material testing, packaging, pumping and tufting. These high-force advanced linear motors are utilized in equipment where fast and accurate moves under heavy loads are required. This brushless, direct drive technology provides an alternative to hydraulic and pneumatic sources for linear motion control.
Moog has acquired the Intellectual Property and other assets of the company.
“We are looking forward to expanding Moog’s motion solutions by integrating this line of innovative linear servomotors,” said Larry Ball, President of the Components Group segment of Moog. “Since we already understand the requirements in these markets, we can now offer our customers greater value by providing them with another option in rotary and linear motion and fiber optic components.”
Moog Inc. is a worldwide designer, manufacturer and integrator of precision control components and systems. Moog’s high performance systems control military and commercial aircraft, satellites and space vehicles, launch vehicles, missiles, automated industrial machinery, marine and medical equipment.
