Video Intensive Motherboard Added To Line of Fiber Optic Multiplexers

13 February 2008

Blacksburg, VA – February 13, 2008 – Moog Components Group has announced the introduction of a new video intensive motherboard for the Focal™ Model 907 fiber optic multiplexer. The 907V optically transmits six high quality video channels over a single optical fiber, providing the highest density of video channels in a PC/104 form factor card. Typical uses are remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and inspection robots.

A key advantage of this product is the six video feeds (NTSC/PAL, RGB, Y/C, YPrPb) on a single uplink wavelength that allows ROVs to remain small and lightweight while having additional on-board cameras. The 907V can accommodate data transmission up to 48 data channels (including Ethernet, isolated RS-232 and RS-485/422, analog signals, ARCNET and CANBUS) on a single fiber. Media converter cards allow even further expansion with Firewire, Gigabit Ethernet, ECL for sonars and HD-SDI for high definition cameras.

These multiplexers use proprietary, low latency multiplexing with expansion cards to provide additional data channels and data types to the Model 907 motherboard. Connections are made through a PC/104-type connector stack up.

Another feature of the motherboard is system diagnostics, available as on-board LEDs for video and optical link status and as optional serial or Ethernet link, to interface with the 907 diagnostics software package, available for continuous monitoring of optical link and system health parameters by a PC or network.
