Northrop Grumman Selects Moog To Provide Full-Scale Aircraft Fatigue Test System

13 July 2009

East Aurora, NY, USA – Moog’s Industrial Group, a division of Moog Inc. (NYSE: MOG.A), announced that Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has placed an order for a 160-channel test controller system to perform full-scale fatigue testing on the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft. Moog is a leader in providing high-performance testing systems to the aviation, aerospace and automotive markets.

The fully integrated 160-channel system combines Moog software and test controllers based on its leading-edge controller platform including real-time ethernet interface. The test system will therefore benefit from a higher communications bandwidth to execute large multi-channel tests faster with
improved safety. The test specimen can be protected against single point failures as well as dormant failures of any part of the primary control system. A dormant failure is an undetected hardware failure.

“The implementation of this full-scale fatigue test is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate our expertise in applying the latest technology to meet the specific needs of our customers. The test platform upgrades can be easily added to Northrop Grumman’s existing systems and will allow them to run more tests faster, improve test accuracy and safety, and get a better return on their overall investment in test infrastructure,” said David Fijas, group vice president and general manager of Moog Industrial Group, America.
