Flap Drive/Trim System for G350/G450
Moog designed, qualified, and supported FAA/JAA/TC certification of the Flap Drive/Trim System for Gulfstream 350/450 business jet. Moog designed a system solution that utilized closed loop electronic controls as a replacement for the mechanically commanded system about the GIV-SP, eliminating a series of mechanical linkages, sequencing boxes, and torque brakes to save weight and cost while increasing dispatch reliability.
The new Flap Drive system consists of a central power drive unit, control computer, and four linear flap actuators. The Trim System includes an electromechanical horizontal stabilizer trim actuator with corresponding motor controller. An electronic control unit commands the flap transmission, provides electronic sequencing for the stabilizer trim actuator and interfaces with the flight control computer.
