Wear Repair - Impeller and Cover
- The retaining screw, which locks the impeller and inlet cover in place, can become loose, allowing the impeller to make direct contact with the cover. This results in damaged, worn areas on both parts.
- Moog removed any damaged material and restored both the impeller and cover with cold sprayed aluminum.
- Repairing the parts with Cold Spray allowed the parts to be put back into service rather than being scraped. This reduces maintenance costs by eliminating the need to purchase replacements parts when the cover and impeller damage one another.
