Fully Automated R-44 Flight Demo
This is the proof of concept hardware that has fully automated the flight of a Robinson R44 helicopter. This hardware hosts all of Moog’s mission, vehicle and flight control software that demonstrated a minimum viable product for the automated logistics of organ transportation. In addition to converting helicopters, we are also developing a new class of vehicle to provide low cost options for automated logistics that require VTOL aircraft.
Agility Prime is a U.S. Air Force acquisition program seeking to accelerate the advanced air mobility vehicles market. Through the program, the Air Force will explore mission utility, costs, risks, and technical maturity while accelerating the development of the SureFly S250 platform.
This involves a series of studies of vehicle aerodynamics, pilot interfaces, and system safety, as well as airworthiness support for unmanned operations. Completing the military Airworthiness process in parallel with the above efforts will lay the certification framework for continued experimentation in a 2022 flight test campaign at the Unmanned Aerial System test site in Springfield, Ohio.
