The Industrial Group of Moog Inc. declared Doug Bitner, manager for the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Engineering Fluid Power Lab, the winner of its contest to find the oldest operating Moog servo valve after he sent in a video showing lab equipment running with a Moog 21 Series servo valve manufactured in 1963. Moog launched the contest last September as part of a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Moog’s operations in Europe

Moog Industrial Group has been selected by Reiser to provide an Electric Motion Base, the vibration platform, control loading system and software to support the training of H145 pilots on a Helicopter FFS-D (Full Flight Simulator – Level D). Reiser was awarded a contract from ADAC HEMS Academy GmbH for the provision of the H145 Helicopter Full Flight Simulator training to support H145 pilots with the most realistic training for their future missions.
Moog China to Provide Simulation Table and Hydraulic Servo Testing System for Nanjing Automobile (NAVECO) Research Institute R&D Centre

Moog has won a bid to supply a hydraulic simulation table and hydraulic servo testing system to Nanjing Automobile Research Institute, a subsidiary of NAVECO and Sino-foreign joint venture between IVECO and Nanjing Automobile, which is a sub-company of SAIC Motor. The Nanjing Automobile Research Institute, a nationally certified testing institute in China, required a vehicle and spare parts test bed for mini bus, light and medium duty trucks for a newly opened research and development centre in Jiangning, Nanjing

Moog Industrial Group and its partner HelpMeSee, a global campaign to end cataract blindness, will provide multiple demonstrations of a first-of-its-kind cataract surgery simulator in Beijing for representatives from the Chinese Ministry of Science & Technology, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) as part of the Grand Challenges annual meeting. Grand Challenges is a group of initiatives led by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Grand Challenges Canada to promote the use of technology to help the world’s poor and solve pressing global health issues. Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness worldwide, despite the fact that a treatment exists. The HelpMeSee Eye Surgery Simulator is part of a global initiative to train the specialists needed to provide this essential surgical care.

CTI Suzhou Successfully Commissions Moog Hydraulic Simulation Table as an Innovative Approach to Automotive Durability Testing for Components

Suzhou, China – Centre Testing International Corporation (CTI) Suzhou has successfully completed powertrain mount durability and radiator / cooling fan tests with a customized Hydraulic Simulation Table (HST) delivered by Moog. A leader in the China testing industry, CTI is a comprehensive third-party agency that specializes in testing, calibration, inspection, certification and technical services. As a vehicle components durability test service supplier, CTI required multi-axle road simulation testing capabilities for one of its most important customers in China, GM PATAC – a joint venture between General Motors and Shanghai Auto Group which has become one of the most renowned vehicle R&D institutes in China.

Wuxi XinDeBao has recently completed a successful flex coupling durability test program with a new simulation table specifically designed by Moog to handle smaller payloads of up to 100 kg. The Hydraulic Simulation Table 100 kg, (H-ST-100), is a new addition to Moog Simulation Table solutions, designed to meet XinDeBao’s specifications for the testing of automobile exhaust pipes. It is also capable of performing durability evaluations of other small vehicle components. The Moog Simulation Table is available in electric or hydraulic versions depending on the performance required.

The system has been installed at a car seat manufacturer in Asia that manufactures complete seating systems and interior components for automotive and transport companies.
Moog’s Miniature Servo Valves Control the New Quadruped Robot of the Istituto Italiano Di Tecnologia (IIT)

A team of researchers from the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), based in Genova, selected Moog Industrial Group, a worldwide designer, manufacturer and integrator of precision control components and systems, to provide a miniature servo valve to optimize control of the legs of a new quadruped robot. The robot called HyQ or Hydraulically actuated Quadruped was created to help humans in emergency situations and during search and rescue operations in dangerous areas.

East Aurora, NY, USA: The Composite Material Laboratory at the Inholland University of Applied Sciences in Delft, the Netherlands, has selected a Moog Portable Test Controller to be used for single-axis testing of composite materials such as fiber-reinforced polymers. This lab is used for research, education and commercial projects related to testing composite materials.
