Moog Industrial Group will be presenting its motion control solution used in industrial automation at SPS IPC Drives Italia, scheduled from 20 to 22 May, at Fiere Parma Exhibition Centre, Hall 3 - Stand A042.
Moog, a leader in high performance motion control solutions,will be displaying its innovative Electro-Hydrostatic Actuator (EHA) andnew inverted roller screws. There will also be interactive demos that visitors can manipulate to experience theperformance of Moog’s Machine Controller (MC600)and rotolinear actuator.
Combining the advantages of both hydraulic and electro-mechanical technologies, the Moog Electro-Hydrostatic Actuator (EHA) is designed for applications that require high force capabilities, energy efficiency and fail safe options. As a self-contained unit combining electric and hydraulic building blocks with a common controller and software system, EHAs eliminate the need for auxiliary pneumatic or hydraulic components. These systems offer high energy efficiency, reduced environmental impact and less downtime. Developed for the use in flight controls, EHAs are now available for a wide range of industrial applications, such as plastic machines and power generation applications.
Moog will also introduce the Inverted Roller Screw, a new typology of screw developed by the Moog facility in Bergamo, Italy. The inverted roller screw works on the same principle as a planetary roller screw and the main difference is that the planetary rollers travel along the nut axis as compared to the traditional approach of traveling along the screw axis. This reduces the overall dimensions of the actuator as the nut or screw shaft can be directly used as a push tube. It is also easy to integrate with the rotor, reducing the number of parts in a machine system.The new Inverted Roller Screw offers higher load rating and rotational speed, higher acceleration rates, longer fatigue resistance, a better ability to carry shock loads and superior longevity in severe environmental conditions.
The demonstrations offered in the booth include an Integrated Axis Control Solution and a rotolinear actuator. The Integrated Axis Control Solution is a system combining a Moog Machine Controller (MC600), an Electro- Mechanical Actuator and theProgrammable Multi-Axis Servo Drive System (MSD) to illustrate the ability of our system to manage key machine processes through a wide range of digital and analog I/O including temperature control, fieldbus connectivity and remote diagnostics. Designed specifically to combine flexibility with ease of use, MC600 is a robust solution, small in size and able to operate even in demanding environments in the extended temperature range -20°C +70°C (-4 +158°F) . The Linux-based real-time operating system guarantees fast reaction times and reduced cycle times, providing efficiency and productivity enhancements. All modules incorporate the powerful, easy-to-use Moog Application Software Suite (MASS), a software developed by Moog based on the latest version of the proven CoDeSys development tool.
The Rotolinear Actuator demonstration has two servo motors connected to a single ball screw controlled by a servo drive, to show how it combines the rotation and translation movement around a single axis. The standard version will be displayed but in order to accommodate the needs of specific applications, Moog also offers special versions of this product.
