Moog Continues to Invest in the Casella Operations

Moog Inc., a leading supplier of high performance solutions for motion control, has announced plans to expand and strengthen its resources at the Moog production site in Casella, in the province of Genoa (Italy), to gain a leading position in Europe and acquire new market share. The Company has ceased its efforts to sell the business and is now focused on new initiatives that will extend the product offering and expertise in the field of brushless servo systems.

The Casella plant currently has an overall area of 33,000 m2, including covered and uncovered portions, and operates with a workforce of 80 employees who design and manufacture standard and customized motors and drives for the Italian and international markets. The new strategy will focus on innovative production processes for Moog Casella’s products that are used in a number of industries, including robotics, blow and injection moulding of plastic materials, metal forming, food, packaging, textiles, small wind turbines and aeronautics.

The Casella site in Liguria will operate within Moog’s Components Group, headquartered in Blacksburg, Virginia, USA. The Components Group specializes in the design and production of motion control, electronics and fiber optic solutions that are used in industrial, commercial, medical, marine, aerospace and defence applications. Moog Components Group has an extensive product portfolio and is recognized as a global leader in the production of slip rings, with a range comprising more than 10,000 designs that are found in a variety of applications ranging from medical devices to wind turbines to commercial and military aircrafts.

Larry Ball, President of Moog Components Group, commented, “Our objective is to fully satisfy the requirements of our customers and offer more solutions. The integration of the Casella plant into our segment and overall strategy will add research and development capabilities and expand our business in Europe.” In addition to Ball, Mark Whisler, General Manager, and Paul Murphy, Group Vice President and General Manager, of Moog Components, will be at the helm of the Casella site.
