Moog Demonstrates M230LF Cannon from RIwP at Successful Live Fire

The M230LF cannon escalates the RIwP’s overmatch lethality

Fort Benning, GA – Dec 14, 2016 – Moog Inc. (NYSE: MOG.A and MOG.B) Space and Defense Group and its defense-industry partners, DRS Technologies and Orbital ATK, today demonstrated a 30mm direct fire cannon on the Reconfigurable Integrated-weapons Platform (RIwP) during a live fire demonstration at Red Cloud Range, Fort Benning, GA. The audience included more than 50 high-ranking Army Officers and civilians.

The live fire exercise featured the RIwP configured with:  a TOW missile launcher, M230LF 30mm cannon, and an Army production IBAS (Improved Bradley Acquisition Subsystem) sight. The RIwP was integrated on an Oshkosh Defense Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) All-Terrain Vehicle.  The M230LF cannon fired multiple rounds at 400, 700, and 1500 meters.  All rounds hit their intended targets in a show of superior accuracy.  “The RIwP is light enough for a tactical vehicle yet it has more fire power in many configurations, than other fighting vehicles, providing overmatch advantages to the Warfighter,” said Rob Urban, General Manager of Moog’s Santa Barbara, CA Operations. “This product will change the future of warfare as we know it.”

RIwP is an innovative remote weapon platform offering multiple weapon options simultaneously to guarantee tailored overmatch in every combat situation.  The RIwP accommodates a variety of weapons including missiles, direct fire, and non-lethal deterrents, as well as an advanced sensor package.  With more than 125 weapon configurations that can be housed on a single platform, the RIwP offers common training and logistics. Engineered with many advanced features, the RIwP includes high-performance target acquisition technology and unmatched pointing/stabilization accuracy ensuring U.S. and allied forces see first, engage first, and achieve mission success.
