Moog Exhibits RIwP with added Lethality Capability at AUSA
Moog Adds Significant Lethality Capability to the Reconfigurable Integrated-weapons Platform Currently on Exhibit at AUSA
The M230LF cannon expands the RIwP’s overmatch capabilities
October 3, 2016
Washington DC – Moog Inc. (NYSE: MOG.A and MOG.B) Space and Defense Group today introduced the Reconfigurable Integrated-weapons Platform (RIwP) to an audience of 26,000 attendees at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) 2016 Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington DC. The RIwP has expanded its overmatch capability and lethality with the successful integration and test firing of an M230LF cannon. Other enhancements include improved egress with the addition of a personnel hatch, and an optional Army production IBAS (Improved Bradley Acquisition Subsystem) sight. The RIwP is mounted on an Oshkosh Defense Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV Assault) and is on exhibit this week in Oshkosh Defense’s Booth #1409.
AUSA 2016, hosted at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, is the largest land power exposition and professional development forum in North America. Senior leaders from the Army, DoD and Congress, as well as foreign dignitaries will participate in the Annual Meeting. RIwP, armed with a Javelin missile launcher, M230LF cannon, M249 machine gun, and partner DRS Technologies’ PS2 long range sensor suite, will be one of over 600 displays.
The RIwP’s M230LF cannon coupled with its on-the-move superior stabilization capability allows the warfighter to defeat an enemy target at long ranges under all battlefield conditions. The ability to have 100 ready rounds and reload under armor allows the warfighter to extend mission operations while remaining protected during enemy fire. “With more than 125 weapon configurations the RIwP maximizes interoperability,” said Rob Urban, General Manager of Moog’s Santa Barbara, CA Operations. “We are proud to offer this game-changing solution to the U.S. and its allies in response to current senior Army leadership interests.”
