Moog Industrial Group announced today that it has entered into an agreement with VAIREX air systems to sell products to the Chinese fuel cell industry. Moog will provide sales and customer service support and develop and manufacture brushless DC motors used in VAIREX products designed for the Chinese market. VAIREX will also provide sales support while developing a line of blowers specific to the needs of the Chinese industry based on their company’s proprietary blower technology.
“This agreement gives Moog an opportunity to participate on the ground floor of the rapidly growing Chinese fuel cell industry,” said Paul Murphy, Vice President of Moog Industrial Group’s Electromechanical Motion Control business. “In addition, it provides us a strategic base and a solid foundation to further grow our existing brushless DC motor business in mainland China.”
Moog provides high performance fractional horsepower motors to a wide range of applications including packaging equipment, medical devices and factory automation. VAIREX is a supplier to the global fuel cell industry. The company’s line of cathode air blowers for fuel cells range from 1 to 30 kW and is expanding upwards beyond 90kW in response to the needs of the fuel cell industry in China. The Chinese market is focused on urban transportation, such as buses and delivery vehicles, in response to pressing air quality issues.
Ski Milburn, CEO of VAIREX added, “Moog has been a supplier of ours for years and the Chinese fuel cell industry is showing every sign of rapidly becoming one of the largest in the world. Moog’s interest in supporting our marketing entry with motors and in-country sales and support is key to our marketing strategy. We are delighted to collaborate with Moog.”
