AMW and AFW Water-Cooled Servo Motors

WATER-COOLED SERVO MOTORS FOR HIGHLY DYNAMIC SERVO APPLICATIONS

The Moog AMW (6-poles) and AFW (12-poles) water-cooled servo motors are designed for highly dynamic servo applications with a wide speed range and variable load. Our AMW and AFW servo motors offer some of the largest power ranges in the industry, with standard models delivering continuous stall torque values ​​from 1 to 137 Nm [8.8 - 1211.6] for the AMW series and 21.9 to 277 Nm [193.7-2449.8] for the AFW series. Compared to their basic variants (AM and AF),  the torque and output power of these servo motors are almost doubled, despite the sizes remaining almost the same. Another advantage the AMW and AFW have over their basic variants is their ability to operate at higher ambient temperatures.

Moog application engineers can enhance the modular designs to provide completely customized solutions, including the following modifications: 

  • Voltage constants (from about 1 to 500 V min./ 1000)
  • Winding and insulation systems designed for different intermediate circuit voltages (12 V, 24 V, 48 V, 330 V, 560 V and 700 V DC)
  • Special rotors for higher speed applications with double or triple bandage
  • 2 or 4-pole variants for high speed motors (AMW)
  • Special lightweight rotor for reduced moment of inertia (AFW)
  • Active lengths
  • Mechanical design of the flange and of the shaft end
  • Addition of bearings for special applications that require higher radial and axial forces on the shaft end
  • Multiple encoder options available
  • Motors for special environmental requirements (higher temperature, chemical environment) and motors with an increased IP address size.
  • The standard inlet cooling water temperature is in the range of 15°C to 40°C. However, temperatures outside this range and different types of coolants (e.g. oils, antifreeze mixtures etc.) are available on request.
