WATER-COOLED SERVO MOTORS FOR HIGHLY DYNAMIC SERVO APPLICATIONS

The Moog AMW (6-pole) and AFW (12-pole) water-cooled servo motors are designed for highly dynamic servo applications in the wide speed range and with a variable load. The torque and the output power of these servo motors are almost double compared to their basic variants (AM and AF) despite the size remains almost the same. Another advantage is the ability to operate at higher ambient temperatures. The Moog AMW and AFW servo motors offer one of the largest power ranges in the industry with standard models available with continuous stall torque values ​​from 1 to 137 Nm [8.8 - 1211.6 lb-in] for AMW series and 21.9 to 277 Nm [193.7-2449.8 lb-in] for AFW series. The modular design is supported by a variety of options. Moog application engineers can provide completely customized solutions (e.g. winding) designed for different voltage constants (from about 1 to 500 V.min/1000), winding and insulation systems designed for different intermediate circuit voltages (12 V, 24 V, 48 V, 330 V, 560 V and 700 V DC), special rotors for higher speed applications with double or triple bandage, 2 or 4-pole variants for high speed motors (AMW), special lightweight rotor for reduced moment of inertia (AFW), different active lengths, different mechanical design of the flange and of the shaft end, bearings for special applications that require higher radial and axial forces on the shaft end, different types of encoders, motors for special environmental requirements (higher temperature, chemical environment) and motors with an increased IP code. The standard inlet cooling water temperature is in the range of 15°C to 40°C. However, temperatures outside this range and different types of coolants (e.g. oils, antifreeze mixtures etc.) are available on request.
