AMW and AFW Servo Motors
LIQUID-COOLED SERVO MOTORS FOR HIGHLY DYNAMIC SERVO APPLICATIONS

The Moog AMW series (6 poles) and AFW series (12 poles) liquid-cooled servo motors are designed for highly dynamic servo applications requiring a wide speed range and variable load. These servo motors offer some of the largest power ranges in the industry, with standard models delivering continuous stall torque values from 1 to 137 Nm [8.8–1,211.6 lb-in] for the AMW series and 21.9 to 277 Nm [193.7–2,449.8 lb-in] for the AFW series. Compared to their naturally-cooled counterparts (the AM and AF series, respectively), the torque and output power of the AMW and AFW models are almost doubled, despite their sizes remaining almost the same. Another advantage of these liquid-cooled motors is their ability to operate at higher ambient temperatures.
Both the AMW and AFW servo motors feature modular designs that support a variety of options. In addition, Moog can provide fully customized solutions, including:
- Winding systems and special insulation options for...
- different intermediate circuit voltages (12 V, 24 V, 48 V, 330 V, 560 V and 700 V DC)
- different voltage constants (from about 1 to 500 V min. / 1,000)
- Special rotors with double or triple bandages for higher speed applications
- 2- or 4-pole variants for high speed motors (AMW)
- Special lightweight rotors for reduced inertia (AFW)
- Customized active lengths
- Special mechanical designs for flange, bearings and shaft end for applications requiring higher radial and axial forces
- Customized environmental protection against tough environmental requirements (higher temperature; hazardous or harsh environment)
- Increased IP ratings
