Spacecraft Propellant Tanks

Moog has a family of rolling metal diaphragm (RMD) tanks that are fabricated from commercially available aluminum alloys, providing a low-cost, lightweight, reliable alternative to titanium propellant tanks. These tanks were originally designed for missile defense applications but the low cost and simplicity have made them ideal for spacecraft applications.

Propellant Tanks

Tanks range from small diameter for “hit to kill” applications up to a large 31” diameter for large geosynchronous spacecraft applications. The RMD all-metal design provides long term compatibility for MMH, Hydrazine, and NTO propellants. Moog has delivered over 100 of these tanks.

Missions: ORBCOMM Generation 2 (OG2), Deep Space Probe Science Experiment (DSPSE aka Clementine), Satellite Test Program (STP), multiple missile defense applications, other defense programs
