Moog to Supply Motion Control Solution in Support of Northrop Grumman and U.S. Marine Corps Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar (G/ATOR) Program
East Aurora, NY (Apr 11, 2017) - Moog Inc. (NYSE: MOG.A and MOG.B) Space and Defense Group has been awarded follow-on Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) contracts with both Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) and Saab Defense and Security USA, LLC to support the U.S. Marine Corps AN/TPS-80 Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar (G/ATOR) program. Moog will provide a six-axis electromechanical motion control system that automatically levels the platform and elevates and rotates the radar array for efficient transport, rapid deployment, and precise operation.
G/ATOR will provide the U.S. Marine Corps with a single radar type that performs air surveillance, air defense, ground weapon locating, and air traffic control missions. It is the first ground-based active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar to be developed by the U.S. Department of Defense.
Moog hardware will be provided directly to Northrop Grumman and Northrop Grumman teammate and subsystem integrator, Saab. Moog’s latest support of the G/ATOR program comes after successful completion of LRIP lots 1 and 2.
