Moog Animatics has announced the release of it new, low temperature range (LTR) SmartMotorTM in two standard NEMA frame sizes, model SM17205M-LTR (the LTR-17) and model SM23165M-LTR (the LTR-23). Both motors have been engineered for robust and reliable operation in harsh environments and high altitudes. Typical applications include surveillance cameras, food processing, test chambers and aerospace.
Onboard internal heaters ensure that the motors can start up in temperatures below -40 degrees C. Along with this, other design changes allow these motors to withstand random vibrations up to 6 G RMS, 10 - 2000 Hz, and standard IP sealing protects the motors.
The motors offer these additional features:
- Four 5V TTL sourcing inputs (LTR-17); three 5V TTL sourcing inputs (LTR-23)
- RS-422 differential communication
- Ease of programming
- Minimal cabling and space requirements due to fully integrated design
The LTR models include Class 5 SmartMotorTM features, such as:
- Integrated drive and controller
- Position, velocity or contouring mode
- Encoder commutation with trapezoidal, advanced trapezoidal and sine commutation modes
- Powerful, basic-like command language with over 200 operators: motion, IO, program flow, data handling, math, communications
- Nonvolatile program and data storage
The SmartMotorTM is a highly programmable servo motor system that is integrated with a motor, an encoder, an amplifier, a controller, RS-232/RS-485 and other optional communications and IOs. The motor provides a smaller footprint, a lower total cost and a simplicity to reduce machine development and build time.
