Press machinery is widely used across sectors like automotive parts and white goods manufacturing to shape metal work pieces, and carry out a range of operations ranging from deep drawing, to shearing, hot and cold forging and forming. New developments in the press market, such as the advent of ultra-high tensile strength steel, means that the precision press slider profile and force control are vitally important. The new collaboration is designed to meet market expectations for servo press drive systems, and will see Danfoss concentrate on the high-volume development and production of drives, power supplies and cabinets for all metal press applications. Moog will focus on system design and simulation, bringing its technology neutral (electrohydraulic, electromechanical and hybrid) approach and market and application know-how to a collaboration designed to deliver customized solutions quickly to customers and partners. Central to Moog’s offering will be its High Torque Motor (HTM), a new primary motion system for servo control that offers the highest dynamics in the industry, as well as an integrated system architecture providing energy savings and higher productivity. The integrated system includes high-powered servo motors, servo drives, an energy management system, power supplies and software as well as comprehensive engineering support.
