The CDR validates the final design and clears the program to proceed to aircraft installation and first flight in 2026.
This modernization equips the Hercules with Moog's Genesys Avionics Suite™, delivering:
- Increased mission capabilities and redundancy for improved persistent operations in austere and contested environments including HARP/CARP, synthetic vision, TCAS-II traffic, and ADS-B / FIS-B weather overlays.
- Reduced obsolescence and sustainment costs through modern, supportable electronics improving reliability and extending fleet life.
- Modernized operational and tactical capabilities enabled by integrated navigation, communications, and flight-management systems.
- Reduced pilot workload and fatigue enabled by modern digital autopilot and full engine indicating and crew alerting system integration.
- Clear pathway to military adoption of the Moog Avionics AMP.
The modernization program applied to the civilian L-Series Hercules platform is also suitable for the military C-130 Hercules platform.
Moog’s avionics solution integrates proven, mission-critical components: IDU-680 EFIS smart displays (PFD/MFD), a multi-engine transport compatible Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS), and Moog GDR™ Nav/Comm radios supporting both VHF and UHF military/civil bands — all packaged for field retrofit.
