Moog Debuts RIwP® on Boxer for Air Defence Missions at DVD 2026

Press Release Date: 9/16/2026

Tewkesbury, UK – Moog (NYSE: MOG.A and MOG.B) is showcasing a specialist air defence mission module for the Boxer 8x8 vehicle at DVD 2026 (Stand SP19), leveraging the operationally-proven Reconfigurable Integrated weapons Platform (RIwP®).

The integration marks the first time RIwP has been fitted to the multi-role Boxer wheeled platform. Like RIwP, the Boxer platform has a unique modular capability, allowing users to swap out mission modules to suit the operational environment.

Highlighting the agility of two UK-based companies, the new Boxer-specific module was brought together in a matter of weeks, utilising British engineers at both Moog's and KNDS’ UK facilities. This employs Moog’s decades-long experience as a supplier to the UK Armed Forces and reflects its ongoing collaboration with several established vehicle manufacturers, including KNDS. This debut of RIwP on Boxer is the latest example of the highly collaborative, enduring relationship between KNDS and Moog.

Moog also continues to partner with organisations across the UK defence ecosystem through its supply chain, spanning armament to materials, and has committed to manufacturing RIwP in the UK using a local supply chain.

The configuration on display at DVD features the XM914 30x113mm cannon, M240 7.62mm machine gun, a 4-missile cannister of the Stinger missile, and a 16-missile cannister of 70mm laser-guided rockets.

Adding the RIwP-based mission module to the Boxer vehicle complements existing weapon system options and gives Boxer users a reconfigurable, layered air defence capability. The RIwP turret does not intrude below the vehicle roof, helping preserve space for dismounts. It also enables  reload under armour for all direct-fire weapons.

The Boxer integration forms part of a wider series of RIwP integrations that show how the system can be adapted for different mission requirements while retaining a common, reconfigurable architecture. These include configurations developed for the British Army’s Specialist C-UAS requirement, as well as other applications such as Short-Range Air Defence (SHORAD) and MCCO/Force Overwatch.

Richard Allen-Miles, International Business Development at Moog, said: “We are delighted to showcase RIwP integrated on Boxer for the first time, giving UK and international delegates at DVD 2026 the opportunity to see the system in this air defence configuration. This collaboration demonstrates the strength of Moog’s relationships across industry and reinforces RIwP’s modularity across multiple mission sets. As operational requirements continue to evolve, RIwP provides the flexibility needed to support the British Army in meeting the challenges of the modern battlespace.”

Nick Drummond, UK Special Adviser for Strategy at KNDS, commented:"KNDS and Moog have collaborated for decades and share common values – engineering excellence and complete customer orientation being chief among them. The addition of a RIwP-based mission module to the Boxer family is a compelling new collaboration, bringing customers an outstanding capability that leverages the best of both systems.”
