Moog’s Reconfigurable Integrated-weapons Platform (RIwP®) Demonstrates Tracking and Targeting on Autonomous Ship to Protect Coastal Infrastructure

Moog and Voltaic Marine Earn Autonomous Systems Excellence Award Following Successful BlueTIDE 2026 Demonstration

Press Release Date: 9/10/2026

East Aurora, NY -- Moog Inc. (NYSE: MOG.A and MOG.B) and Voltaic Marine successfully completed a second demonstration of the integration of Moog's Reconfigurable Integrated-Weapons Platform (RIwP) and Voltaic Marine's AEU39 autonomous surface vehicle during the Polaris Tech Bridge BlueTIDE 2026 technology demonstration event in Newport, Rhode Island. BlueTIDE brings together government, industry, and academic leaders from across the United States to evaluate innovative maritime technologies in realistic operating environments.

The collaboration between Moog and Voltaic Marine reflects a growing demand for technologies that enhance maritime domain awareness, support infrastructure protection, and enable operators to make faster, more informed decisions in dynamic environments. The successful demonstration further validates the role of autonomous systems in supporting safer ports, more resilient coastlines, and stronger maritime operations. In recognition of the demonstration's performance and innovation, the Moog and Voltaic Marine teams received the 2026 Autonomous Systems Excellence Award during the event's closing ceremonies.

“As threats evolve, customers need solutions that are flexible, scalable, and able to integrate seamlessly into existing operations. We designed RIwP with that adaptability in mind, providing operators with a proven capability that can evolve with mission requirements," said Mike Gruver, Senior Vice President, Moog Defense. "Moog remains committed to delivering mission-ready solutions by adapting proven systems and scaling production to support multi-domain operations.”

The Moog RIwP turret is already proven on land across multiple vehicle configurations and fielded with the U.S. Army in programs such as SGT Stout and M-LIDS. This demonstration highlights the adaptability and reconfigurability of RIwP both on land and sea. RIwP is a unique, reconfigurable weapon system ready for today’s mission-critical counter-drone needs. It is payload and platform agnostic. It offers the maximum firepower capacity in its class, including the integration of a 30mm cannon and multiple C-UAS missile effectors. With wireless control and increased onboard ammunition capacity, RIwP allows for extended engagement duration designed for modern threats.

“Bringing the AEU39 from concept to on-water testing in eight months reflects the pace of innovation our team is committed to delivering,” said Richard Phamdo, CEO Voltaic Marine. “The demonstration showcased how autonomous maritime systems can expand situational awareness, support the protection of critical infrastructure, and help organizations address evolving maritime threats without placing operators directly in harm's way.”

Complementing RIwP’s mission endurance capabilities, the Voltaic AEU39’s electric-hybrid design with solar panel integration enables the vessel to stay on station for extended periods of time. This opens the door for multiple key applications, like fleet protection and littoral defense.
