Moog Receives Third Consecutive Supplier Quality Award from Raytheon

East Aurora, NY, (June 12, 2018) – Moog Inc. (NYSE: MOG.A and MOG.B) Naval Systems Business Unit was honored with a Supplier Quality Award from Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) for a third consecutive year. Moog’s AN/TPY-2 CEU Fan Motor Team was recognized for its efforts on the program at Raytheon IDS’ Supplier Excellence Conference in Boston, MA on May 17. This year, Moog received the prestigious Three-Star Award in recognition of quality and delivery performance in the top-5% of all Raytheon IDS Suppliers

From 2014 through 2016, Moog worked with Raytheon and MDA to re-design fan motors and controllers for the Cooling Equipment Unit (CEU) of the Army/Navy Transportable Radar (AN/TPY-2). AN/TPY-2 is the radar surveillance section of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system. THAAD is a U.S. Army anti-ballistic missile system devised to shoot down short, medium, and intermediate range ballistic missiles in their terminal phase via a hit-to-kill methodology. Moog’s robust controller and fan motors provide the needed cooling for the radar’s electronics.

In 2017, Moog completed the first production order of the new design, which is now providing enhanced performance and reliability to the warfighter in the field.  Manufacture of a second production order of the enhanced hardware was started in early 2018.
