Columbia Helicopters and Genesys Aerosystems Announce Collaboration to Revolutionize Model 234 Chinook Cockpit

Aurora, Oregon: February 28, 2024 – Columbia Helicopters, Inc. (CHI), a global leader in heavy-lift helicopter operations, and Genesys Aerosystems, a Moog company, have proudly announced a strategic collaboration to develop and certify a state-of-the-art digital cockpit for the Model 234 Chinook.

The collaboration aims to introduce a modern, Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) capable cockpit that will significantly enhance the multi-mission capabilities of the Model 234 Chinook. The digital cockpit upgrade is poised to set a new standard in helicopter avionics technology, offering customers unparalleled safety, efficiency, and situational awareness.

Key features of the digital cockpit upgrade include advanced avionics systems, intuitive interfaces, and cutting-edge navigation equipment, providing pilots with enhanced control and precision for safer flight operations. The upgrade will elevate the performance of the Model 234 Chinook and streamline cockpit workflows, optimizing mission effectiveness across a wide range of applications.

The digital cockpit upgrade will be standard equipment on all new-build Model 234 Chinooks, offering customers immediate access to the latest in avionics technology. Additionally, existing Model 234 Chinook operators will have the option to retrofit their aircraft with the digital cockpit upgrade, ensuring compatibility with their current fleets.

Certification of the digital cockpit upgrade is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025, with production and installation to follow shortly thereafter.
